What each page tells you
- School pages give the grades a school serves, its enrollment by grade, students per teacher, the share of students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and the school meal program. They compare the school with the rest of its district, with the nearest schools of the same level, and with the median school of that level in the state.
- District pages list every school in the district on a map and in a table, with staffing (teachers, counselors, librarians and other roles), students by race and ethnicity and by grade, and the nearest districts.
- Calendar pages show a district's school year: first and last day, Thanksgiving, winter and spring break, holidays, staff days and early-release days, with a printable PDF and a file you can add to your phone's calendar.
Where the numbers come from
School and district figures come from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES): the Common Core of Data, which every state reports each year, and the EDGE program for school locations and area types. The current figures are for the 2024-25 school year, the latest NCES has published. Every number on the site shows its source and school year next to it, and theAbout page lists every formula we use for ratios, medians and ranks. We publish no ratings or scores of our own.
Calendars come only from each district's own published calendar. School boards can change dates during the year, so every calendar is re-checked each semester, and weekly from February to August while boards approve next year's calendar. When a calendar can't be read with confidence, we don't publish it. Dates can still change after our last check: confirm important dates with your school.
